Real Madrid Signs Argentine Teenager Franco Mastantuono to Six-Year Deal

Real Madrid marked a thrilling moment on Thursday by signing Argentine teenage forward Franco Mastantuono to a six-year contract. The former River Plate star turned 18 on the same day as the signing, completing his medical checkup and formalizing the deal alongside club president Florentino Pérez.

Mastantuono expressed his excitement and dedication, saying, "I promise I'll give everything I have for this shirt. It has always been a dream of mine to play for the greatest club in the world."

The transfer had been agreed upon previously, but Madrid waited until Mastantuono turned 18 to officially complete the signing. The club reportedly paid 45 million euros (about 52.5 million USD) to secure the talented young forward, making it one of the most expensive signings from Argentine football history.

During the presentation, Mastantuono received several gifts, including a replica model of Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, a watch, and a jersey bearing his name and number 30. He will start his journey with Los Blancos wearing this number.

This summer, Real Madrid has also signed other young talents such as Spain’s central defender Dean Huijsen and England’s right back Trent Alexander-Arnold. These signings come as part of Real Madrid's rebuilding phase under new coach Xabi Alonso, who replaced Carlo Ancelotti after a challenging previous season.

Last season was tough for the club by their high standards—they lost the Spanish league title to Barcelona, failed to advance to the final in the Club World Cup and the Champions League, and suffered defeats in all four matches against their longtime rivals, Barcelona.

With Alonso now at the helm, the team is eager to start fresh and better. The club's first La Liga match of the season is set for Tuesday, at home against Osasuna.

Mastantuono’s signing represents a bright new chapter for Real Madrid, as the club looks to nurture their next generation of stars and return to winning ways.
